Were you loving Catawbapalooza’s theme this year? If you were excited to Park It On The Lawn, why not keep that retro vibe going and go see a drive-in movie? Badin Road Drive-In is located in Badin, NC. It’s a bit of a drive; to go to Badin Road from Catawba takes a little over an hour, but the drive is more than worth it.
There are two screens at the theater each screen showing two different movies every night starting at around eight o’clock. Tickets are $5 for adults and include both movies on either screen A or screen B. The movies aren’t as old-fashioned as the atmosphere. They are currently showing Alice In Wonderland, The Last Song, Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Too, and Kickass (for more info on these movies, check our Arts and Entertainment page for movie reviews).
If you get hungry, you can always grab something at the concession stand. They serve movie favorites like popcorn and candy, and they also serve more substantial food like burgers, fries and pizza. You can even wash down your popcorn with a cold milkshake.
Don’t worry about the old-fashioned process of mounting a speaker on your window. You simply turn the radio to the station listed on the menu they provide when you purchase tickets, and the movie’s sound is played through your car’s sound system. Before the movie, these radio stations play classic “drive-in music” from the 50′s and 60′s.
If you want to see a movie but aren’t enthused about spending another weekend night in Salisbury, try heading out to Badin Road Drive-In for some good old-fashioned fun! Check out http://www.badinroaddrivein.com for more information and movie showings!
