If you’ve ever watched one of those crime shows on TV and have gotten tired of watching the justice system run around like they are some sort of omnipotent being, then Law Abiding Citizen is your therapeutic release.
Gerald Butler and Jamie Foxx have teamed up for this psycho-thriller-action roller coaster of a movie about a man (Butler) who decides to take revenge on the justice system (Foxx) after the murderer of his family gets cut a deal and goes free.
The acting is top-notch, especially from Butler. Proving that not only can he kick the crap out of you in 300, be a coach for how men operate in The Ugly Truth; but he can also be a military genius who watches his family get murdered then cracks and plots to murder the justice system. Oh, and he does all this vengeance from inside his jail cell.
Besides the acting, the plot is excellent, twisting and keeping you on the edge of your seat for the entire film. And while the twist is somewhat predicable, that can be forgiven due to the fact that the ending is rushed. The audience doesn’t have a real chance to soak up the excitement before it’s over. Other than that, the only other issue is possibly keeping up with the political and legal babble.
If you are looking for a thrill ride roller coaster movie to enjoy on one of these summer nights, then Law Abiding Citizen will not disappoint! It will keep you guessing, jumping, and completely sucked in until the credits roll!
