A blast from the past. Stud Terkel’s “Working” previwed this past week on the Hedrick Little Theatre, and boy did it draw a crowd.

Despite it’s minimilistic, industrial set, the actors were overflowing with talent and character.

The set, a 3 tiered metal platform with movable screens, was able to transform each scene from a steelĀ cage of a building, to offices, and even homes and parks. And during each scene dozens of photos were able to create a mood and provide a backdrop for the actors.
Directed by Dr. Beth Homan and Carrie Foster, the show, I would suggest it was a huge success!

And the show was a great treat with it’s catchy tunes like “Brother Trucker” and “Traffic Jam” to it’s more somber songs like “Just a Housewife” and “Fathers and Sons.”
The show highlighted the everyday person; the working man and woman. From waitresses and milworkers, to car checks and office workers- each character had a story to tell and usually a song to back it up.

So, if you missed the show’s run that ended Saturday, then you missed one heck of a show! For this writer, I would give it two thumbs way up!
