Every new year The Blue Masque, the Dramatic Society on campus, inducts new members to be a part of their ranks by giving the incoming freshmen (and transfers) their own “Big Brother/Sister” in which to help give them some direction in their first experiences at college.
Social Chair, Mary Alice Nichols says, “We had the Jell-O fight actually as part of a larger event that hopefully will become a tradition, The Blue Masque Olympics! It is just a glorified “Get-to-Know You” session. It is often so easy just to get back into the groove with your old friends and not really make friends with the first-years until they enter your path. So, because we doBig’s/Little (Siblings) with Blue Masque, we thought it would be a great way to get to know all of the first-years and for them to get to know us with some fun hangout session’s! Besides a little friendly competition never hurt anyone!”
The other event’s in the Olympics included: a Relay Night on Wednesday, which had a popcorn relay, egg relay, and dizzy bat; Thursday was the Jell-O fight; Friday was a scavenger hunt for things around campus to get the first years acquainted with the campus; and Saturday night was an Award’s Ceremony where we awarded medals for achievements.
