“I’m not a nutritionist, I’m just hungry.” –Lisa Lillien, Hungry Girl

Lisa Lillien, founder of Hungry Girl, considers herself a “foodologist.”  She has written multiple best-selling low-cal cookbooks “for those who can’t cook,” and she has created a popular website which sends out daily e-mails to over one half million subscribers.  Hungry Girl boasts almost 90,000 followers on facebook.  All of this started as a few e-mails to Lillien’s family and friends.

I discovered Hungry Girl in my search for a great cookbook that wouldn’t break my budget or my jeans size.  Hungry Girl’s first book, “Recipes and Survival Strategies for Guilt-Free Eating,” surpassed my expectations.  Recently, Hungry Girl has released a new book: “200 under 200.”  The book includes 200 recipes all under 200 calories per serving.

The best thing about Hungry Girl?  It’s a makeover of the food we all want to eat.  Hungry Girl’s first cookbook includes easy-to-make, healthy versions of nachos, burgers, fudge, pizza, lasagna, french toast, calamari, mac & cheese, parfait, onion rings, fajitas, smoothies, ice cream sundaes …I could go on and on (my favorites include her french toast, Fiber One personal pizza, and taco salad)!

Hungry girl does not only provide great recipes; Lillien also recommends guilt-free grocery items and snack foods that are definitely worth trying.  Through Hungry Girl, I have discovered some of my favorite snack foods.

For anyone seeking some guilt-free cooking ideas and countless tips to eating guilt-free, visit the Hungry Girl website.  As far as I’m concerned, a little bit of Hungry Girl wisdom goes a long way!
