On Saturday, April 10th, from 12 p.m. until 12 a.m. the Inn celebrated their fourth anniversary with music, food, and fun. A hot dog lunch was for sale to raise money for the Inn, and a pig roast took place later in the evening for free.

The Inn is located  on Mooresville Highway right off of Jake Alexander Boulevard here in Salisbury. It is a Christian Community Outreach Center with a mission to “reach Salisbury and Rowan County for Jesus Christ using all available resources including but not limited to contemporary music, relevant Bible study, and community outreach.”

The center is equipped with foosball, air hockey, and pool. It has a full kitchen that serves coffee among other things. Some of their events include open mic nights, Christian concerts by local artists and bands, and also performances by their house band “Innfinity.”

Tom Millspaugh, founder, says that the Inn is not affiliated with any denomination and that is the way they like it. They cater to the tastes of many different people through the wide range of activities and events that they host. “We have all kinds of music,” says Millspaugh. Everything from Christian rock, blues, and beach music to hip-hop and rap is represented at the Inn at some point.

Millspaugh’s son-in-law says that the annual fundraiser has always been a success, but this year was expected to be biggest with an estimated 200-300 people expected to drop by sometime during the day. The first fundraiser simply featured the house band. However, this year’s event offered concerts from 13 bands and 3 solo artist. Some of these include Sound of Faith (pictured above), Shield, Micole Wallace, Good Courage, and Jeremy Vess.

The Inn is supported by donations from the community, and the fundraiser is a big help in keeping this community outreach center going. Also on Saturday, local Christian radio station WBFJ (“Music from the Heart”) broadcasted live from 5:30-8:00 p.m.

The Inn not only reaches people by opening up their facility to the public, but they also go out and support other community efforts. These include the Pregnancy Support Center, the Nazareth Children’s Home, Rowan Helping Ministries, and the V.A. Hospital.

The fundraiser was a great way to get more people from the community involved with the Inn and to just have a day of fun and music. So if you are looking for somewhere to relax, get coffee, and listen to the talent of local artists on a Saturday night, the Inn may be the place to be.
