Spring Sports have Started!

It is within two weeks of the spring sport season and they are off to a great start! The spring sports that have started thus far are Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse, Baseball, and Softball. Here is just a little recap of their seasons!
Women’s Lacrosse: On February 12th, Catawba Lady Indians played against Limestone and lost 3-19. Limestone is the number 6th team in the nation. On February 16th, they played Roberts Wesleyan and lost 3-16. On February 20th, Catawba’s team played Belmont Abbey and lost 9-21. On February 24th, the Lady Indians played against Converse and lost 10-12. This is the second season that Catawba College has had a Women’s Lacrosse team. You can catch the next home match on March 6th at 1 p.m.
Men’s Lacrosse: On February 16th, Catawba Indians played Coker and won 15-9. On February 20th, the Indians played Mount Olive and won 14-10. The next match that you can catch your Catawba College Men’s Lacrosse team is on February 26th, when they take on Pfeiffer University at 4 p.m. at Shuford Stadium.
Softball: Catawba College’s Softball team have been playing a lot of games since February 7th. The following are the games that they have played. On February 7th, the softball team won against Queens (10-8) when they played at Queens. On February 9th, they played two games at USC Aikens. They won the first game (5-1) and lost the second game (2-3). On February 10th, they had another double header while playing Mount Olive at home. They won the first game (4-0) and lost the second game (3-6). On Febraury 12th, they had a double header at Pfeiffer. The Lady Indians won the first game (1-0) and lost the second game (2-3). On February 16th, Catawba’s softball team played at home against WV Wesleyan. This was a double header game. They won the first game (4-0) and lost the second game (1-2). On February 17th, they played at UNC Pembroke in another double header game. The first game they lost (5-6) and the second game they won (12-2). On February 20th, they played Barton at home in a double header. They won both games (2-0, 4-3). On February 24th, they played LeMonye and won 1-0. They also played North Georgia and won 2-1. You can catch your Catawba College Softball team back in action on February 25th, at 11 a.m. at the Salisbury Community Park against Umass-Lowell.
Baseball: On February 1st, Catawba College’s Baseball team played Pfeiffer and won 7-0. On February 2nd, they played Pfeiffer again and won 8-1. On February 3rd, the Indians baseball team played Tusculum in a double header and won both games (5-3, 8-7). In a tournament, Catawba played against Barton and Pfeiffer, on February 8th and 9th. They won all four games (Feb. 8th against Barton 8-2, against Pfeiffer 8-4, on Feb. 9th against Barton 9-7, on Feb. 10th against Pfeiffer 10-2). On February 15th, your Catawba baseball team won against Wingate 1-0, but on the 17th of February they lost 0-4 to Wingate. Later on that day, they played against Wingate again and won 5-2. On February 23rd and 24th, they played against Newberry and lost all three games (5-7, 5-7, 4-5). The next home match that you can watch your Catawba College Baseball Team will be on March 8th at 6 p.m.
