It is common knowledge that we here at Catawba have a very respectable and wonderfully kept campus, hard working Athletic Programs, devoted Clubs and Organizations, and talented students. It has to be remembered, however, that we can safely pride our Catawba’s Culture in the dedicated hands of the faculty and staff, who make it a point to go the extra mile in and out of campus. This week’s example: the selfless and beneficial efforts of Catawba’s very own Dr. Moreland.
The associates of Healing Hearts Small Animal Rescue, Inc. of Old Fort, NC were short of resources as they were contacted by Inner Banks Canine Rescue with the necessary relocation of 11 desolate dogs and puppies from shelters to rescue groups.
Dr. Moreland, a professor of Communications here at Catawba, graciously volunteered his time to relocate these canines to their new rescue group. Dr. Moreland, an active member of Pilots and Paws, which is an organization devoted to volunteering their piloting and airplanes to relocate small domesticated animals, was made perfect for the job.
On top of his aerial efforts, he took the time to help with the unloading of the animals and their safe transport to the car, where they would take their final journey to HHSAR.
Vicky Tate, Founder and President HHSAR, shows her gratitude towards Dr. Moreland’s selfless efforts. She challenges the Students and Faculty of Catawba with the simple message, “If you happen to see Mr. Moreland today, please give him a pat on the back, because he is a wonderful, caring man who helped save eleven dogs and puppies from a certain death. We really appreciate all that he did for these wonderful dogs.”
