Vocation and Values Dinner

The Vocation and Values dinner occurs once per semester and is sponsored by the Lily Center. The evening included dinner, four speakers, and conversation following the two. The Master of Ceremonies for the evening was senior Grant Gibson. The featured speakers included Junior Devin Rodgers, Senior Beverly Maurice, Chemistry professor Dr. Carol Miderski, and our President, Dr. Craig Turner. They all spoke about their personal values, and what has led them to the value system they currently have today.

Dr. Kenneth Clapp started the event with a blessing of the meal and event. Dinner was very good, and the conversation that followed the speeches was great, as those attending had an opportunity to ask questions to the speakers. Everyone attending also had general conversation about his or her experiences which led to values.

The mix of students and teachers alike provided for a good occasion, especially for the students who were looking for guidance about the road ahead of college. This sense of vocation, along with values, are the main goals that the Lilly Center tries to ingrain into students.

With professors representing a wide range of disciplines throughout the college, each student received great responses to their questions about life after college. The professors seemed to enjoy the fellowship spent with the students and there thoughts on college, as well as a good meal served with the event.
