Catawba Students are Ready for Summer Opportunities
April 26, 2011
Though the exam weeks ahead are surely prompting some Catawba students to look forward to a short summer hiatus from the demands of the everyday, others are planning busy summers filled with new experiences and great opportunities. I took a poll to see just what Catawba students are diving into this summer.
Jubilee Meehan, a sophomore at Catawba, is going to be a camp counselor at Doe River Forge in East Tennessee.
Tyler Howe, a graduating senior at Catawba, has an opportunity to take a position within Salisbury as a Band Director. “I’m really excited for the opportunity,” says Howe, “and I know that if everything works out, it will make for a busy but rewarding summer.”
Suzy Williams, a Math major from Efland, North Carolina, will be working with Wilmore Electronics in Hillsborough, North Carolina. Suzy will be creating circuit boards, and will be employed full time.
Danielle Burroughs, a freshmen from Walnut Cove, North Carolina, will be working hard at two jobs. “I’ll be working at Walnut Ridge Assisted Living, as well as seeking other employment,” says Burroughs.
Though summer for most means R&R and a well-deserved break from papers and exams, the students at Catawba are sure to capture every summer opportunity that comes their way.
