After students get back from Spring Break, they will be treated to a series of special international meals, courtesy of Catawba’s newly established International Club.
The International Club, which is in its second semester, was established because of the large number of international students at Catawba. Janin Kassner, the president of the club, said she felt that the club was a “good opportunity to share different cultures and experiences with the campus community.” In addition to this, the club wants to help assist international students with any issues they experience, including transferring credits from their home country and signing up for classes. They also want to help recruit new international students and help with internships overseas, among other important work.
The International Food Fest event was planned as an introduction of the club to the college. Kassner says, “We thought it would be a good way to let the campus know we exist. Everybody likes to eat!”
The event will begin the Tuesday students get back from Spring Break with a lunch of crepes, and will occur each Tuesday for 5 weeks.
The schedule for the meals is as follows:
March 18th- Europe
March 25th- Brazil
April 1st- Russia
April 8th- India
April 15th- Africa
Any Catawba students who are interested in joining the International Club are welcome to attend their meetings. Meetings are held about once a month, on Thursdays. Open to students of any nationality, the club’s next meeting will be March 27th at 7 P.M. on the bottom floor of Ketner. Any questions about the club can be addressed to Janin Kassner at firstname.lastname@example.org.
