Palm trees? In Salisbury? That’s right! If you have been waiting all summer long like I have, the new Palms Café recently opened its doors to the public. They are serving a variety of foods such as classic deli items, breakfast crepes, ice-cold gelatos and gourmet coffees. The hip new café is decorated to satisfy any person who wants to “vacation” out of Salisbury for a little bit, even if it’s just for lunch.
As you turn off of Innes Street, you will not miss the giant palm trees growing from the Palms Café’s parking lot. I think that is what originally drew me into the Palms; I love palms trees, and love them even more when there’s food behind the doors! As you enter the cafe, the lights are dimmed and chandeliers are covered with colorful paper shades, giving that coffee house or jazz club appeal.
As you make your way up to the counter, don’t be overwhelmed by the menu. Yes, its menu is huge, and there are way too many delicious items to choose from, but don’t worry, you will definitely find something to order, all for a great price! You will even have enough food for leftovers.
For those who can’t decide between salads or sandwiches, the Palms Café offers half – and – half deals! Diners can choose from half a sandwich & soup combo or half a sandwich & salad combo. This is exactly what I ordered when I went to the Palms for the first time. It was a Friday, and yes that matters, because there is a different soup special every day! I chose the half sandwich & soup combo. On Fridays, it’s the Seaford Chowder (very good)! For your sandwich, you can choose half a chicken salad, tuna salad, or turkey breast on whatever bread of your choice with a side order of chips or an apple. I ordered the chicken salad on a croissant, and the past two times I have gone back to the Palms I have ordered the same thing! Their chicken salad is absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced.
Although the service was a little slow, it was definitely worth it the wait! I think they are still trying to get used to operating, so I gave them benefit of the doubt. As for desert, I defiantly recommend the gelatos. They have half the calories that ice cream has and better the taste! I had the strawberry flavor, and it just melted in my mouth! They have many different flavors such as tiramisu, chocolate chip, pistachio, vanilla and chocolate, just to name a few.
And for my breakfast lovers, there is a vast variety to choose from. There are good old fashion egg omelets, french toast and stuffed panini-crepes. When I went to the Palms for breakfast I ordered the Banana & Nutella Waffle, which is a waffle with sliced bananas and chocolaty hazelnut spread. Unfortunately for me, the kitchen ran out of bananas and nutella, so my $7.00 dollar plain waffle…well it was good, but not worth the price. But I will not give up on the Palm’s breakfast; I’m dying to try their Oh Nuts panini-crepe, which is stuffed with cream cheese, mixed nuts, strawberries, cinnamon-sugar and even more strawberries!

I thought Jen gave a very balanced, objective review of a new restaurant that I’ve been curious about and wanting to try. Based on Jen’s article I will go there, at least for the gelatos. I also liked the photograph and that Jen provided the hours. Wtg, Jen!

I ate here soon after they opened and was not impressed. The food was very expensive, and they did not seem to be on top of many important logistical issues. Items on the menu were not available, service was poor, and the staff was less than attentive in resolving any of these issues. Hopefully things have gotten better, but I came away very unimpressed.

What is their website? I want to check out the menu without having to drive there.

Unfortunately, the Palms has not posted a menu online.

I have been here twice now and have ordered two different salads with the so called – “mixed greens”. Well if you call three small green leaves mixed in with the ICEBERG lettuce mixed greens then yea, they were mixed in…..some where. So with this huge bowl of iceberg lettuce to eat I was very dissapointed.
