In just under two years from now, Americans will return to the polls to vote on another President to succeed outgoing President Barack Obama. The biggest question is: Who will run? With the first primary debates later this year, it is not too early to ask this question, or speculate what the answer will be. Below is a list of possible candidates for President in the 2016 election cycle from both Republican and Democratic parties:

Republicans:
After losing the 2012 Presidential Election, the GOP made historic gains in the congressional election of 2014. They are hoping to carry this momentum to the 2016 election in electing a Republican President.

Mike Huckabee- When the former Governor of Arkansas stepped down from his comfortable position as a host on Fox News, heads turned to see what direction he would take next. Huckabee is on a book tour, but he has claimed that a decision would be made in the spring. Huck finished second to McCain in the 2008 GOP Primary, and opted not to run in 2012. Recently, Huckabee has hinted that a run is more and more likely. Many do consider Huckabee to be a GOP favorite due to his ties with both conservative and moderate voters, which provides a huge advantage for a possible campaign.
Chances on running? – Very Likely

Mitt Romney- The 2012 GOP Candidate has flip flopped numerous times on if he will make another run for the White House. After denying another run most of 2014, he has recently announced an exploration of a possible bid for a third campaign. Even though Romney has numerous funds, it will be hard to convince the GOP to nominate a candidate two times in a row.
Chances on running? -Likely

Ben Carson- The surgeon from John Hopkins has made some noise following the creation of his documentary “A Breath of Fresh Air.” Although Mr. Carson has not officially announced candidacy, He has widely expressed interest and is seriously considering a 2016 run. Carson is widely respected across the entire GOP base, and this will give him an advantage if (or when) he chooses to run.
Chances on running? – Somewhat Likely

Jeb Bush- Brother to former President George W. and son of former President George H.W., Jeb Bush is possibly seeking to be the third Bush in the White House. Although he is respected due to his background and charisma, many republicans are wary of his stance on Common Core. Additionally, some question the success of another Bush as Commander in Chief. Despite these setbacks, Bush has obtained support from numerous influential people, including 2012 nominee Mitt Romney. Bush has also openly expressed a run for President recently, exploring possibilities of candidacy.
Chances on running? – Likely

Democrats:
With the goal of retaining the White House for an additional four years, the Democratic Party is represented by its share of candidates as well:

Hillary Clinton- Riding on popularity dating back to serving as First Lady and a Senator, Clinton is considered to be a favorite among the Democratic field. Despite some health issues during her tenure as Secretary of State, many see Hillary taking advantage of the momentum and throwing her hat into the ring as an immediate frontrunner for the Democratic nomination.
Chances on running? – Very Likely

Andrew Cuomo- The Governor of New York is in a high profile position, which gives Cuomo a reasonable asset on his resume. Limited ties to the current administration may either help or hurt his chances. However, with the growing scandal in New York state politics, a possible awareness or even involvement of the wrongdoing could ruin his chances in a split second.
Chances on running? – Likely

Elizabeth Warren- The popular Democrat from Massachusetts is gaining support from many who want a female President, but not Hillary. Despite the increasing support, Warren has stated in numerous interviews that she will not run for President. However, candidates have changed their minds in the past…
Chances on running? – Unlikely

Joe Biden- The Vice President of the United States will have a bit of explaining to do in order to distinguish himself over the current administration. It helps that Biden has disagreed with the President on numerous things, and this along with familiarity of the White House will give him a decent advantage. Given the case that Hillary Clinton chooses not to run, things would look good towards Biden being a favorite, if he isn’t one already.
Chances on running? – Very Likely

With a pack of candidates on both sides, the 2016 Presidential cycle is bound to be an entertaining one, as well as one of the most important elections in recent Presidential history. The Catawba Pioneer will be on top of the latest Political News, and will be following the 2016 processions very closely.
