This past weekend, Wigwam hosted its annual build a bear event. Students started lining up in the student center as early as 6PM for this 7 o’clock event. The line started at the main entrance to the student center and wrapped all the way around to the student affairs office.

Students in line had an average wait time of about 45 minutes until they could get their animal, which they then proceeded to have to wait again in another line to get their animal stuffed. After the animal was stuffed, students got to fill out a birth certificate for it and name it. After that, they gave their animal a shirt to put on that they could write cute sayings on or decorate however they wanted.

Wigwam claimed to have about 200 – 300 animals to stuff at this event. Those animals included much more than teddy bears. Among the mix were giraffes, pandas, and even moose. A little added bonus to the event that you did not have to wait in line for was the delicious chocolate covered strawberries. Overall, this event was a huge hit on campus, most likely since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. What a better gift to give than a stuffed animal that you didn’t even have to pay for?
