The Catawba Theatre Arts program featured the play “Comedy of Errors” during the last week of February 2015. This unique play featured the original Commedia dell’ Arte style of drama developed in 16th century Italy. Commedia dell’ Arte is a high-energy precision format of acting, which is centered on certain archetypes. A certain mask represents each of these archetypes. For this production, students were able to create their own masks for the show with the aid of professor Christopher Zink, who was also the lighting design and technical director for the show. This show was directed by professor Dayna Anderson with the aid of Professor Meredith Fox, who is a graduate of the Accademia dell’ Arte, Arrezo in Tuscany, Italy. As Dayna Anderson has decided to retire this year, this will be her last official act as director for the Catawba Theatre program.

At the Friday night showing of Comedy of Errors, there was a special reception in Dayna Anderson’s honor, featuring a slideshow of the over 35 productions she helped direct. Everyone in the audience was invited to join in the free reception. The reception was originally supposed to be held after Thursday nights showing, however, the show that night was cancelled due to the snow.

The show itself depicted beautifully accurate Commedia dell’ Arte style and told the humorous story of the search for true identity.

Woah! I’m really loving the template/theme of this site.
It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s very hard to get that “perfect balance” between user friendliness and appearance.
I must say you have done a excellent job with this.
In addition, the blog loads super quick for me on Firefox.
    Excellent Blog!
